A Japanese spider demon who's name translates into 'Prostitute Spider'. According to legend, once a spider has lived 400 years, they gain the ability to turn into a beautiful woman and begin their lives anew as Jorogumo. Rumors say they call mountains or waterfalls their home and can take the form of beautiful women to lure humans to their lair. It is unclear what happens to the men past their disappearance, but it can be assumed they are killed, and perhaps eaten.

- Not powerful enough to control spiders, but can call a swarm of spiders to her aid. They can range from poisonous to non-poisoness, but they become aggressive upon being called.

- While not as grandiose as offensive magics, they are equally vital. Her abilities in this field are used to enhance the strength of her webs, making them temporarily resistant to flames or simply increasing the amount of stress the threads can take.

- While not strong, a bite from Zuiichi can cause minor paralysis to the local area. For example, if she were to bite a person's hand, then they probably wouldn't be able to close their fingers. However, if she bites somewhere like the shoulder or upper leg, they may only experience a slight numbness in the surrounding area with no real effect to the limb. However, if the poison is able to get in the veins, it may drain stamina or create a tingling sensation through out the body. There is no long term damage done though, only temporary, local paralysis.

- Not surprisingly, she can create strong threads of gossamer, more specifically, dragline silk. It's the strongest kind of spider silk, and becomes stronger the more it's bundled together. It serves no real purpose other than to make her more comfortable, and as a temporary fix for torn materials. In worse case scenarios, it can be used for sutures, but they will not last for long amounts of time.

- Because of her magical energies, as well as enhanced natural senses, she can sense where most living beings are. However, she can't tell what kind of creature they are, and the sense becomes weaker the farther they get from her, with the farthest sensing being less than a mile. Even then, she can be easily fooled, and sensing lifeforms is very difficult from that distance.

- This is more or less a given with her monster species. Jorogumo can naturally take the form of beautiful women to lure men away for a meal. However, the amount of time this form can be kept is dependent on each individual Jorogumo. For Zuiichi specifically- her emotions and hunger, though the two coincide more than you'd think. If Zuiichi becomes stressed or emotionally disturbed, her personal control over which form she's in can be lost. Her Glamour makes sure she stays human at all times without having to worry about her emotional state.

- Despite her life experiences, Zuiichi acts very much like a teenage girl. She's very upbeat and kind, passionate about what she believes in, and a bit stubborn. She's also a bit on the ditsy side, sometimes needing a moment for her common sense to kick in before she realizes what she just did. On the other hand, she's a very dependable person and will help any and all who ask for her help, especially to the point of being taken advantage of. Whatever you do, don't let her catch you being cruel or manipulative- she'll take anything personally if you don't phrase it right or correct yourself. Then you know what you'll have? A spider with a grudge, and you KNOW those aren't fun. Be expecting webs on your shoes, nail-bites in handshakes, haunting glares, and the emotional detachment that it a Arachnid-woman scorned. Well at least until you apologize- then she may reconsider being nice to you again; bring chocolates and a tarantula, it'll increase your odds.

Character's Background:

Zuiichi was originally born from her mother in 1529 in Feudal Japan, but not as a Jorogumo. In the beginning, she was only a spider, hatching in the mountains of Japan, now known as Mount Shirouma. As per the lore, she pushed herself to survive the 400 years it takes to transcend into a Jorogumo and started her real life in 1929, having no memory as her life as a spider. She wandered down the mountain as a naked young woman and was taken in by an older couple who lived at the base of the mountain path. They took her into their home and gave her supplies; they fed her, gave her water to drink, and even lent her some clothes so that she wouldn't die of exposure. She picked up on the culture and customs quickly, as if she'd seen it all before... speaking with them and paying her respects, but she knew she couldn't stay. As a last act of kindness, to repay them for caring for her, she made them a golden blanket from a thread she found she could produce.

She then traveled up the mountain to find her origins, making her way up to a little grove in the trees. It was there that she found another Jorogumo- one of her sisters who'd survived the 400 years. She'd immediately known of her origins and took it as her purpose to teach her 'little' sister the ways of their life. She taught her how to climb, how to spin a proper web, how to fight... but no matter what the task was, Zuiichi seemed to lack aggression or malice in her actions. Over time, more of her sisters, as well as other random Jorogumo began to gather in one place, a strange feat given their solitary nature. Even with all their encouragements and teachings, Zuiichi couldn't fathom their ill-intent for the humans. Instead, she took great interest in them, often traveling down to nearby towns as a human and interacting with them, while her fellow Jorogumo attacked them.

One day, a travelling monk arrived in the town and captivated the young spiderling. His heart seemed so pure and he was so kind to the people- she couldn't help but have her heart swell. She talked to him whenever she got the chance and learned all about his teachings. Part of her wanted to follow in his steps and take his noble path, but she knew that would be in vain, given her true self... Which ended up getting the poor man killed. He followed her home after night fell one day, suspicious of her dwellings and was trapped by the rest of the Jorogumo, eventually being feasted upon by the spider-women. Zuiichi felt both heart-broken and guilty, knowing she must've lead him to his doom, and left her home in the mountains so that it would never happen again. Of course, on her travels, she later heard how the towns revolted and marched into the mountains, scorching what would've been her home. Despite her remorse for her 'family', she couldn't help but be thankful for having not stayed.

Her journey takes up the span of several years, and years turn to decades as she travels Japan, up until World War II. With all the military action taking place, Zuiichi decided that it wasn't safe to remain in the place she called home. She tried to stowaway on one of the fishing ships to get closer to her destination, but as luck would have it, she was found by a member of the crew and jumped overboard. Surprisingly, though, she found herself to be a good swimmer and began making her trek across the small sliver of ocean between Japan and China. Exhausted, she washed up on the Chinese shores and was pulled in by some locals.

When she awoke, her hands were bound and she was in some strange metal box that moved and there were two men, one seemingly controlling the deathtrap. Neither would speak to her, and they wore similar uniforms. She tried to ask them where they were taking her, but all she got was a cold glare. The paranoia set in worse and worse and she reverted into despairation, transforming in the back of the metal box and scaring the two men. In the end, their box had gone careening off of it's guided path and into a tree. She pulled herself away, mostly unharmed, but sore. Before fleeing the scene, however, she pulled the two men from their destroyed metal containment device and layed them near the path they'd just been on, hoping they'd be found.

Years passed and she remained in hiding while in plain sight, slowly making her way west as rumors flew around her. She was always careful and rarely got caught unless she wanted to, but it wasn't uncommon to come across another monster. Not that she really noticed until she saw them not in human form. But word caught fast amongst their kind and eventually she heard about a place- something they called a school- for monsters to learn about humans and live in their world. It sounded like a dream to her, but she was definitely willing to try. However, given the situation, she put the idea off. Even for years at a time... what was time really to semi-immortal monsters? Regardless, she melded with the human culture and nearly forgot that she wasn't actually human on occasions, only to be reminded when she realized that she was more comfortable in a web or that things like plant-based foods made her feel sick. Finally, she decided that it was enough- she'd put it off for too long and it was time to actually do something about it! So, she saught out the school and travelled to it, hoping to find out how to truly live in peace with humans, not just hide and fear if they should find out the truth.

Extras:

~ She knows how to sew, she's just not good at it- She often has to go back and restitch whatever she originally made. The only thing that sort of turned out okay was her Spider Plush Backpack that serves no other purpose than being cute.

~ Oh yeah, did I mention she has a Spider Plush Backack? It's hella cute and she carries it everywhere- expect a picture soon yo~

~ The prayer beads used as her Glamour are actually from the monk who was eaten by the Jorogumo. She took it as a way to keep his legacy living on and figured she might as well make it a large player in her education at the academy.

~ If you have something fluffy or warm, expect to be cuddled immediately- she hugs first, talks later if she sees something she likes.

She shook her head and set her determination strong, hurrying ahead into the school as her skirt fluttered excited and nervous all at the same time. She'd always wanted to go to a school- and now was her chance. "Yeah, I'm gonna rock this thing! WOO HOO~!", she chimed happily, jumping into the air just before pushing the front doors open, feeling unstoppable as she started her new pokemon adventure-! Oh wait, wrong fandom-!
